In order for participants to tell stories of their full potential, they must also have the knowledge and skill to live their full potential. Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program provides the necessary formula for social-emotional development that leads to self-efficacy and civic engagement. This program, in conjunction with MDR’s Media Education Curriculum & Training Program, empowers participants to embed their unique and positive contribution into the fabric of society.
Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program® is an evidence-based intervention including discussions and interactive learning around key topics related to adolescent health and development, community service learning opportunities, and connections with caring, committed adults. Guided by an engaging and relevant nine-month curriculum, TOP® reduces the risk of problem behavior while promoting healthy choices and empowering teens to lead successful lives and build strong communities. TOP®’s combined focus on resiliency, self-regulation skills, social-emotional skills such as healthy relationships, boundaries, goal setting, communications, and decision-making, as well as the opportunity to develop a stronger sense of connectivity to the community via community service learning align with the developmental needs of adolescence, and provide a means to support and improve their overall well-being and mental health.
