Media Done Responsibly Campaign

MDR empowers communities to engender respect for their full humanity by advancing music, film, literary, visual and performing art that depicts their inherent value, worth and honor. To empower communities, we must give them a platform for their voices to be heard and honored. The Media Done Responsibly Campaign does that.

MDR LOGO Final 073013This campaign brings together MDR youth leaders, alongside Los Angeles community members to screen films and preview music, literature and videos for which they are a targeted audience. They then critique these art submissions according to a list of community developed standards that measure humanity-driven media. Media scoring high marks in the measured categories receives the Media Done Responsibly Seal.

MDR is dedicated to supporting artists whose work recognizes the full humanity of individuals from diverse cultures. Providing the youth we serve with imagery, sound, and movement that mirrors the positive attributes and values of their culture and community is a critical element of our work.

MDR offers this Campaign in collaboration with IMPACT Media & Entertainment Coalition’s Campaign to Promote Positive Images.
