Leadership Development

One of MDR’s priorities is to facilitate leadership development through our programs. Ideally, a middle or high school student can participate in our programs through a partner site provider (peer mentor, media literacy curriculum, or TOP) and attend one of our participating universities. This student can then become an MDR mentor, train and become a VCI (Volunteer Coordinator Intern), join the MDR Club on campus. The student may have received media production training in high school, and can now participate in the internship program through one of our corporate media sponsors or as a site leader with MDR. From the internship, this student is then equipped to enter the work force with a basis in civic and community engagement, having developed leadership skills and media production and advocacy skills.
